Girl in the desert of Dubai

Did you know that a record-breaking 15.79 million people visited Dubai Last year? After all, it is one the most loved holiday destinations worldwide. Offering world-class entertainment, dining and shopping experiences, it’s no wonder that the city is a popular choice for travelers all year long.

But, when would be the best time to visit Dubai? While some might think that it’s best to go during cooler months as summertime is too hot, at the end of the day it really depends on the kind of holiday you’re looking for. With attractive activities lined to suit every age, taste, and mood, Dubai always has something to offer, no matter what time of the year you plan to visit. So, let’s have a look.

Foodies watch out

While there’s no shortage of good food in the city, there are specific events all food lovers can’t miss. For instance, between February and March there’s a city-wide food festival with a diverse selection of mouthwatering cuisines waiting to be tasted. During the Dubai Food Festival you can check out various food markets such as the Etisalat Food Canteen by the beach, along with other exciting food events and promotions all over the city. There’s even a host of popular casual and fine-dining restaurants you need to try out during your stay such as Nusr-Et Steakhouse, Nobu and Crazy Fish.

Shop till you drop

Are you always on the hunt for a good deal even during a holiday? Well, in that case Dubai is a must visit. Known for amazing shopping malls and all year-round sales, Dubai leaves no stone unturned to give you the best shopping experiences and this includes the world-famous Dubai Shopping Festival(DSF). Starting late December to end of January, during DSF the entire city is transformed into a shopper’s haven with big sales in almost every store. There’s also exciting shopping avenues such as the Global Village where you can spend the entire day exploring stalls from various countries, appreciating delicious street food and enjoying a complete cultural experience. The best part? Even if you miss the chance to visit Dubai during DSF, Global Village stays open for few more months.

Get close to nature

It’s probably best to visit Dubai during the cooler months if you plan to venture out in to the wild and admire rocky hills, blue skies or glistening sand dunes as far as your eyes can see. Rent a car and take a road trip to nearby emirates and check out multiple sites such as Fossil Rock; with fossils said to be over 80 million years old or Wadi Bih; known to be the Grand Canyon of the UAE. And if you don’t have enough time to drive out, you can always go for a half day Safari or visit the Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary to get a dose of nature.

Thrill seekers

Doesn’t matter what time of the year you visit, there’s always an exciting indoor or outdoor activity to try out. Get an adrenaline rush dune bashing on the Big Red, go mountain climbing, have dinner in the sky, hit the indoor ski slopes or zipline across the city. Dubai will find a way to keep your energy up!

It’s a family affair

If you’re travelling with the kids, then summer is probably an ideal time to visit. Starting from late June till August, the Dubai Summer Surprises promises to have the best sales, deals and activities to entertain the entire family. The malls in Dubai hosts a variety of impressive activities which will keep the kids happy and busy. You can also get amazing offers on hotel bookings along with passes for theme parks and water parks during the warm summer months.

What’s the culture like

There’s always an art gallery or museum you can visit in Dubai. For instance, the recently opened Etihad Museum and Dubai Frame will give you a real insight into the history and culture of the country. Also, events such as Art Dubai in March and the Dubai International Film Festival which happens at the end of the year, are events you need to bookmark. Art galleries and installations in Alserkal Avenue, Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) and Madinat Jumeirah Resort are also worth the visit.

So, no matter what time of the year you plan and decide to visit, regardless of the Dubai temperature, there’s always something exciting happening for every taste and mood.
